solid place for good wine

i was looking for some First Growth Bordeaux, specifically Medoc, and found Laguna Cellar. i'm always a bit nervous ordering wine online, especially with how some states are with shipping alcohol. turns out, they ship to California, which is awesome. their prices are pretty competitive too; saw a 2018 Chรขteau Mouton Rothschild Pauillac that was less than i'd seen at K&L. the coupon code worked fine at checkout. definitely a good find.

great place for futures!

i was curious about saint-emilion futures and laguna cellar had a really clear breakdown of how it all works. much easier to understand than on total wine or wine.com. also picked up some nice glassware. prices are really competitive, especially for the en primeur stuff since most discounts exclude them anyway. their 2019 Chรขteau Pavie was a good deal, about 10% less than i saw elsewhere. definitely recommend for serious wine buyers.

Reliable source for good wine

This isn't my first time ordering from Laguna Cellar. I've bought several First Growth Bordeaux over the last couple of years. This last order, a 2005 Chateau Margaux, arrived just as reliably as the others. The packaging is consistently excellent, and the delivery times are always within the estimated window. It's why I keep coming back for my special occasion wines. They maintain a high standard, which is crucial when you're buying high-value bottles. Never had an issue with condition or authenticity. They really know their stuff.

Good value, minor shipping point

I bought a few bottles of Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon during their anniversary sale. The prices were quite competitive compared to other sites. The wines arrived safely, all bottles intact, which is the main thing. Shipping was fine, took about 6 days. My only small point is that the tracking updates could have been a bit more frequent; there was a day or two where it seemed to stall. But the customer service team was responsive when I emailed them about it. Overall, I'm satisfied with the purchase and the value I got.

Amazing selection, great service!

Oh my goodness, I just received my order of 2018 Chateau Lafite Rothschild and it's perfect! The whole process was so easy and the customer service was really helpful with my questions about shipping. I can't wait to open this bottle. I'm telling all my friends who love fine wine about Laguna Cellar. I will absolutely be shopping here again!

Detailed feedback on my order

I recently purchased a bottle of 2010 Chateau Mouton Rothschild. The ordering process online was straightforward, though I did have to confirm my age, which is standard. Shipping took about five business days to my address in Denver, and the bottle was very well protected in specialized packaging, which is important for such a delicate item. I appreciated that they use temperature-controlled shipping, especially since it's summer. The wine itself arrived in pristine condition, the label was perfect. I haven't opened it yet, but based on past experiences with this vintage, I expect good things. Their customer service was quick to respond to an email query I had about delivery tracking. No issues with quality or usability.

Easy to find what I wanted

I was looking for a specific Burgundy Pinot Noir and found it pretty easily on their site. Placed the order, and it arrived about a week later, well-packed. Everything seemed fine. The wine looks good, excited to try it. Overall, a smooth experience, no complaints.

Is Laguna Cellar legit for these really old, expensive Bordeaux? I'm always nervous about fakes with rare stuff.

S Sandra Thompson 1 month ago
Totally legit. I've bought some pretty high-end stuff from them and it's always been perfect. They store it right too.

They specialize in fine wines, especially French. I trust them way more than some random eBay seller for sure.

Are all their wines stored in temp-controlled facilities? I'm worried about summer shipping or older vintages getting cooked.

T Thomas R. 1 month ago
Yes, they're big on that. All their wines are stored in temperature-controlled conditions, and they even use special shipping methods in hot weather to protect your order.

That's one of their main selling points, actually. Especially for those expensive vintages, they definitely keep them in proper cellaring conditions.

Anyone know if Laguna Cellar has a first-time buyer discount? Saw some other places offer that.

C Carol Evans 1 month ago
I got a small one, like 5% off or something, when I signed up for their newsletter. Worth a shot!

yeah, usually they do. Check the pop-up on the site or the footer. Sometimes it's for signing up for emails.

How are their prices compared to Wine.com? I usually buy from there but Laguna Cellar has some unique stuff.

R Richard Garcia 2 weeks ago
For everyday bottles, Wine.com might be a bit cheaper sometimes with their sales, but for the higher-end, rare French wines, Laguna Cellar often has better selection and sometimes better pricing especially on futures. It's kinda apples and oranges in some ways.

Laguna Cellar is definitely more specialized in fine, rare wines. If you're looking for First Growths or specific vintage Bordeaux, they're usually the go-to over Wine.com.

I'm interested in those Bordeaux futures, but how does that actually work? Do I pay now and wait years for the wine?

D Deborah Torres 2 weeks ago
Pretty much! You pay upfront, and then they ship it to you when it's released from the chateau, which can be 2-3 years later. It's a way to get it cheaper before the market price goes up.

E Emily Wilson 2 weeks ago
Yeah, exactly. It's like pre-ordering. Good if you know what you want and don't mind the wait for a better price.
